This Privacy Policy describes how Dismissmode Ltd handles information when you visit dismissmode.com or install the Dismissmode browser extension. We're an open-source project with a simple principle: if we need to collect it to deliver the product, we collect it. Otherwise, we don't.
01 Information we collect via the website
Plausible analytics records page views, referrer, and approximate country. No cookies, no personal identifiers. If you email us, we keep the email while we reply.
02 What the Dismissmode extension does NOT collect
The Dismissmode extension runs entirely in your browser. It does not:
- Track the URLs you visit or your browsing history
- Read the content of pages you visit (it matches against DOM structure, not content)
- Capture passwords, form inputs, keystrokes, clipboard, or files
- Access cookies, localStorage, or session data from sites
- Collect device identifiers, IP addresses, geolocation, or any persistent user ID
- Transmit any data to advertisers or data brokers
03 Aggregate statistics
We collect anonymous counters: total popups dismissed, rough country bucket, extension version. These numbers are aggregated at our ingest endpoint, we never see per-user detail, and we couldn't link any specific event to you even if we wanted to. Examples appear on our homepage. Raw aggregate data is published quarterly in our transparency report.
04 Your rights
Under UK DPA 2018 and GDPR, you can ask us for any personal data we hold about you. Since we don't hold any (we designed the system that way), the answer will usually be 'none'. Email privacy@dismissmode.com if you want this confirmed in writing.
05 Third-party services
Plausible analytics on the website (no cookies, no personal data). The extension does not load or talk to any third-party service at runtime.
06 Changes
Policy updates are announced in the extension changelog and on the site. Last-updated date at the top of this page.
